This painting, done only in ivory black and titanium white oils, sets a solitary jazz saxophone player in a back alley, stealing a moment to hit a few practice notes before he goes on stage. The title is taken from the jazz standard "Stolen Moments," composed by Oliver Nelson and first recorded by Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis in 1960. It has been covered by Ahmad Jamal, Frank Zappa, Lee Ritenour, Quincy Jones, Grover Washington Jr., and many others.
